KATHY DAVIS 2011-2012 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Kathy Davis Memorial Scholarship Program is offered by The Church of the Nativity to promote and support Catholic elementary education opportunities. The scholarship program is funded through donations to the Kathy Davis Memorial Fund, which is administered by The Church of the Nativity. An award of a one-year full tuition package to attend the School of the Nativity, school year 2011-2012, will be given to one student.

Applicants must be currently enrolled at the School of the Nativity at the time of application. The scholarship is open to Nativity School students entering grades fourth through eighth as of September 2011.

A Scholarship Selection Committee with representation from the parish and school administration will review all entries and select one student to receive the award. Emphasis will be placed on need, the student and parent application essays, and school performance. Scholarship assistance is awarded without regard to race, color, gender, national origin or creed.

This scholarship program is named for Kathy Davis who was a longtime parishioner of Nativity. Mrs. Davis was devoted to sharing the gifts that God had graced upon her and her family through her tireless work with community service projects. She helped to better the lives of Nativity Parish's underprivileged and many others in her native country of Ireland. In honor of her legacy, the recipient of this scholarship will participate in twenty hours of community service during the school year to which the scholarship is applied. The recipient and his or her family will have the services of a volunteer mentor appointed by Nativity Church to assist with planning and completing the community service project. By May 20, 2012, the recipient will submit a one to two-page summary on the community service project and what the experience meant to him or her. This summary will be shared with the Nativity School and Church communities in promoting the scholarship program.
