Troop 1100 offers boys 11-17 the opportunity to develop leadership, character, citizenship, and fitness while having fun. The troop meets every Wednesday from 7:30-9:00 p.m. to work as teams to prepare for outdoor activities, and to learn skills under the guidance of their elected peer officers. Patrol leaders meet monthly with the scoutmaster to plan outdoor activities such as camping, rafting, skiing, and parish and community service activities. Scouts are recognized quarterly for their achievements and advancements. Each scout has the opportunity to attend summer base camp or high adventure camp. Contact Jack Oliva 703-690-5731.
Pack 1101 provides craft, skill, and family activities for Nativity’s boys in grades 1-5. Dens meet three times a month from September to May to work on advancement requirements, crafts, and skills, and participate in skits and songs. The Dens gather monthly for a Pack meeting to share their activities and receive recognition for their accomplishment. The highlight of the year is the Pinewood Derby when the boys craft model race cars from wood and are then judged for best looking and raced for fastest in the Den and Pack. Summer activities include family camping and outings to Prince William Cannons baseball games and the U. S. Marine Corps Twilight Parade. Girl Scouting offers a safe, fun, and supportive environment that challenges girls to be their best and learn about teamwork and goal setting through a variety of experiences and adventures including science experiments, art, music, and exploring the outdoors. The Girl Scout program is designed to meet the developmental, educational, emotional, and social needs and interests of girls in a natural progression of levels. Venturing is the BSA’s young-adult program for young men and women ages 14-20. Venturing promotes self-development, leadership, and citizenship in an outdoor setting. The crew meets three Thursday evenings a month and conducts frequent high-adventure activities including backpacking, skiing, canoeing, wilderness survival, and caving. The crew also participates in frequent service projects for the parish and the community. They have the opportunity to earn awards and advance in outdoor skills, sports, and youth ministries.
