Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)

RCIA and RCIC are the processes by which adults and children learn about the Roman Catholic Church and gradually become full members of the Catholic Church. Nativity’s program also includes many people already Catholic by faith and baptism who seek to renew or refresh their knowledge of the faith and their participation in it. Every year, adults and children are welcomed into the Catholic community through RCIA and RCIC.

The RCIA/RCIC is a journey of faith through the initial stages of asking and seeking, beginning involvement with Christian/Catholic people, hearing the Gospel proclaimed and by faithful reflection and prayer on this Word of God, study and discussion about the Catholic experience, doubts and hesitations, discernment of God’s call for them as individuals, the steps of commitment, and the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist). For RCIA inforamtion please contact Father O'Keefe at 703-455-2400.  For RCIC information please contact Theresa Rogers.

RCIA and RCIC  are for adults and children who:

Have never been baptized.

Are married to a Catholic and attend Mass and want to find out how to join the church.
