The Italian Heritage and Cultural Society (IHCS) of Nativity seeks to increase knowledge and appreciation for the historical, cultural, and social heritage of Italy, as well as the contributions of Italians and Italian Americans to the US and the world.

  • Italian cuisine and regional cooking
  • Italy’s regions, towns and provinces
  • Italian immigration
  • Travel in Italy
  • Genealogy


  • Visits to sites with Italian influence such as the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Italian Embassy, National Gallery of Art
  • Wine tastings and trips to wineries
  • Celebrations of traditional Italian holidays such as the Feasts of Saint Gennaro and La Befana, Ferragosto, Carnevale
  • Participation in Italian cultural events in the Washington, DC area
  • Social activities such as “cene dell’amicizia” (pot lucks), bocce, briscola (card game)
  • Support for Italian Language learning
  • Collaboration with other Italian American organizations and with Nativity Church organizations to promote the parish community’s spiritual and social life


All are welcome to join us on the fourth Thursday of each month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Parish Cafeteria (schedule may vary, please check our IHCS website for more specific information).


Paid annually: $5 Student, $15 Single, $20 Family (same household)
